QU… Enough Is Enough

Even if you’re effective in the role you’re in, it doesn’t mean that you’re happy

One of the scariest parts of owning situations at work is deciding when enough is enough. We all deserve respect and a life with dignity. Getting a paycheck doesn’t mean being owned.

As professionals, we are expected to do our jobs confidently and in return, we get compensated. But when the relationship has run its course, we must also be just as confident to make decisions concerning our futures.

Be honest with our company, our colleagues and ourselves if we aren’t a fit for each other anymore, and that it might be time to allow them to find a replacement, and for us to find a new bus to get on. This is okay and there’s nothing to be ashamed of. It’s like trying anything out and realizing it isn’t what you thought it would be like.

So, like when a company tells us that they need to let us go and that it isn’t personal, neither is our decision to be happier and to find a job that makes us feel whole again. Even if you’re effective in the role you’re in, it doesn’t mean that you’re happy.

Let me share one time that I came to this decision and how I addressed it.

Have you ever had the courage to leave on your terms and how did you do it?
