Take It Seriously! Working From Home Is No Joke

Waking up in your nightgown or pjs and jumping straight to your computer is a significant benefit as you work from home

People think working from home is just a means to an end, especially during this time of the pandemic. Many would like to learn and to know how to work from home to make themselves busy and earn at the same time.

I manage an FB community of about 76,000 members. I have started this community four years ago, and it really garnered a good number of following, though I noticed an enormous leap of a member’s request recently and mostly intending to know what work from home is.

Here is my take on this. Working from home is not a fresh thing! A lot of home-based professionals have been working for years, even before this pandemic started. I have worked as a VA since 2014.

From my 9 to 5 regular work from a theme park, I dreamed of working and managing for myself and spending my time as I wish, be it for my family or for my own career growth. I have achieved it and really value and care much of what I do as a home-based professional. You might think working from home is not a serious thing, well, let me show you why I think of it otherwise:

This is not a temporary thing. You can grow your career from home. You can fulfill a part- or full-time work from home. It is a real investment. Once you get the right formula and discover how you can really earn regularly, then you can reap the reward from it.

It’s a career. Waking up in your nightgown or pjs and jumping straight to your computer is a significant benefit as you work from home. Well, for some, that may be the idea, but not for us! We have learned to discipline ourselves and respect our work. This is a requirement even if you are working from the office, and that being said, I have never treated my work as a one-time gig or a racket. It is my career, and I value it!

Potential for learning. The one thing I really enjoy about my career is that it gave me the avenue to explore a lot of marvelous things. Learning a lot of new software, discovering a hidden talent, enhancing my weaknesses, and more.

Managing your own time. It’s real freedom! I get to decide what time zone I want to work with.

Going global. Remember the time zone? Oh yes, you can choose who you want to work with depending on the country of your preference or where your clients will be. Isn’t this amazing? I find it exceptional!

I respect all the home-based professionals around the world. Now, going back to those who are trying to explore working from home, ask yourself first, is this something you want to do or just need to do, if so, think about it. Who will hire your services if you do not see your career growing professionally from home?

This is not a mediocre thing, and you should not treat and think of it that way, this career will bring good fortune for you as clients will invest in you if they see your potential. Working from home is not a scapegoat, so please take it seriously.
